INVITATION We take a great pleasure in inviting you to the Global Metropolitan Forum of Seoul 2010, scheduled to take place on March 10, 2010, in Seoul, South Korea. The Global Metropolitan Forum of Seoul served as an important channel for Seoul to find and strengthen its role and competitiveness in the global community. In our Inaugural Forum held in 2007, we conducted a comparative study aimed at assessing the level of happiness of citizens and competitiveness of major metropolises of the world. The 2nd forum brought another important subject matter of culturenomics, one of the major policy directions of Seoul, providing the ground for the creative culture city, Seoul. At the 3rd forum, strategies to enhance global city competitiveness were discussed, including key measures to overcome the financial crisis confronting many global cities. The 4th Global Metropolitan Forum of Seoul, to be held in 2010, will be an important venue for in-depth discussions centered on a dream picture of global metropolises and future engines for the city of Seoul under the theme of The Future of Global Metropolis Seoul : From Limitless Competition To Boundless Cooperation. Today, rapid globalization has blurred boundaries between nations which put cities in an increasingly competitive environment. Meanwhile, there are more and more pending issues that can only be addressed through collaboration among cities, such as environmental issues and financial crisis. At this critical juncture, the coming forum will be a meaningful opportunity to discuss common issues of global metropolises and advance future growth engine and paradigm shift for sustainable city development.
