This article shows the current status regarding the employment of civilian workforce in the ROK defense sector, presents lessons learned from the US case, and suggests ideas to use more civilian workforce in the ROK defense sector. The US defense sector manages civilian workforce more comprehensively and is provided with services more systematically by drawing up inventories of contracted services. The ROK defense sector should establish a comprehensive workforce management system and encourage employment of civilians with more detailed plan in accordance with military reorganization plan.
