Journal of Educational Innovation Research 2019, Vol. 29, No. 1, pp.41-64 DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.21024/pnuedi.29.1.201903.41 ICF Core Set : * Development of the ICF Core Set for Multidimensional Evaluation of Persons with Severe Intellectual Disabilities: Focusing on Item Extraction through Interviews with Field Experts Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify evaluation items through interviews with field experts in order to develop ICF Core Set for multidisciplinary evaluation of persons with severe intellectual disabilities. Method: The study participants were 10 field experts with more than five years of experience instructing persons with severe intellectual disabilities. The interview period took about two months from September to November 2017. The interview questionnaire was designed to understand the abilities and performance of persons with severe intellectual disabilities in the 4 areas(body function and structure, activities and participation, environmental factors, contextual factors) of the ICF system suggested by WHO(2001). The interview data were recorded and transferred to the transcripts with the consent of study participants, and the data were categorized into 4 areas under triangulation method. Results: A total of 149 items were extracted to be included in the development of the ICF Core Set for the multidisciplinary evaluation of persons with severe intellectual disabilities. There were 57 items on body functions, 11 items on body structures, 51 items on activities and participation, 30 items on environmental factors. Conclusion: Hereafter, a two-phase Delphi survey will be conducted to assess the importance of items extracted from this study, while developing a comprehensive and shortened version of ICF Core Set for multidisciplinary evaluation of persons with severe intellectual disabilities.
