Many studies examine the anti-poverty effects of social insurance and means-tested transfers relying solely on survey data with substantial errors. We improve on past work by linking administrative data from Social Security and five large means-tested transfers(ssi SNAP Public Assistance the EITC and housing assistance) to 2008-2013 Survey of Income and Program Participation data. The administration of tax policy has shifted its focus from enforcement to complementary instruments aimed at creating a social norm of tax compliance. In this paper we provide an analysis of the effects of the dissemination of information regarding the past degree of tax evasion at the social level on the current individual tax compliance behavior. Adverse demographics and other structural weaknesses impinge on Korea s long-term fiscal outlook and potential growth. Moreover inadequate social protection is creating poverty and dampening consumption. The paper presents projections of Korea s fiscal outlook using new estimates of potential growth obtained with a novel multivariate filter. ö This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the role of capital taxation in advanced economies with a focus on the Swedish experience. We synthesize the existing theoretical literature present facts about the capital stock and its distribution review current capital tax practices and empirical findings regarding their effects on economic activity. ä The combination of different working-age benefits childcare costs and income taxation creates complexity reduces work incentives and holds back employment. This paper compares Finland s benefit system with two benefit reform scenarios: a uniform benefit for all( basic income ) and a universal tapering rule ( universal credit ). 151
