An effective method of teaching Sino-Korean vocabulary to Japanese learners of Korean - Sound correspondences of Sino-vocabulary stock in Korean and Japanese - This study aims to explore an applicability of both sound correspondences and word-formation ability of hanja-eo (Sino-vocabulary stock) in Korean and Japanese languages for a development of an efficient pedagogical method to enhance Sino-Korean vocabulary learning by Japanese native speakers. Subjects are divided into experimental and control groups according to gender and proficiency levels of their Korean language in order to test an efficiency of pedagogical method proposed. For experimental purposes, first, sound correspondence table of Ito (2007) is borrowed to be utilized in the selection of words for the course material; second, the course material compiled with selected words is taught to experimental group; third, a series of identical vocabulary tests are administered to both groups to check any performance gap between them. The results has supported the claim that the pedagogic method accommodating sound-correspondence and word-formation ability of Sino-Korean vocabulary stock would eventually help and expedite acquisition of these vocabulary items by enhancing Japanese native speakers logical conjecturing of the meaning and structure of them at significant level.
