20 Analysis of Moderated Effects of Committed Action in the Relation between College Life Stress and Psychological Well-being Dongshin University Chonnam National University Dongshin University The purpose of this study was to verify moderated effects of committed action in the relation between college life stress and psychological well-being. For this purpose, this study tested the research model with college life stress as a predicting variable, committed action as moderating variable, and psychological well being as an outcome variable. This study conducted a questionnaire survey on the subjects of 399 college students and analyzed the data. This study analyzed the data by utilizing structural equation modeling. Following are the results of this study. First, the result showed that it was not significant relationship between college life stress and psychological well-being. Second, higher levels of committed action were also psychological well-being levels. Third, moderated effects of committed action in the relation between college life stress and psychological well-being were significant. That is to say, the higher the level of committed action, the higher the level of psychological well-being. And college life stress and committed action interacted each other to affect psychological well-being. And even though there was a high level of college life stress, when the committed action level was high, then it could moderate negative effects affecting psychological well being. The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to offer counseling intervention for college students to promote their committed action in order to develop their psychological well-being. Accordingly, this study may possibly provide useful materials for education and counseling intervention for college students, and could be applied to develop counseling intervention programs.
