The Relations between Parental Psychological Control and Child's Emotional Cutoff Korea National University of Education The purpose of this study was to examine the moderation effects of fear of evaluation and perfectionistic self-presentation on the relation between parental psychological control and child's emotional cutoff. Participants of the study were 697 adolescents from five high schools located in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Chungnam and Chungbuk. Correlational analysis and hierarchical regression analyses were conducted. Results were as follows. First, parental psychological control, child's emotional cutoff, their fear of negative/positive evaluation, and perfectionistic self-presentation were positively correlated. Second, fear of evaluation partially mediates the relation between parental psychological control and child's emotional cutoff. Third, perfectionistic self-presentation partially mediates the relation between parental psychological control and child's emotional cutoff. Implication of the study is that child's fear of receiving negative/positive evaluation and desire to appear perfect to others affect their emotional cutoff other than parental psychological control. Limitations of the study and suggestions for future research are discussed. Key words : psychological control, emotional cutoff, fear of evaluation, perfectionistic self-presentation
